About Asbestos Awareness
The objective of this course is to provide awareness and develop knowledge among employees about the hazards and risks posed by asbestos containing materials (ACMs). This course is not designed for anyone that is planning on undertaking any work with ACM’s. The course further gives an overview of the legislative measures in place to allow employees to safeguard themselves and others affected by work activities.
Who is it for?
This is an asbestos awareness course aimed towards those working in a laboratory. The course has been expanded to provide further detail around best practices and procedures for the laboratory environment. Ideal to form part of an induction training package or as a refresher course for employees. The additional information has been provided by our in house experienced asbestos laboratory analyst.
What does it cover?
The modules include:
- The types, uses and likely locations of asbestos in buildings and plant
- The nature and properties of asbestos
- The health effects associated with exposure to asbestos
- How to avoid the risks from asbestos
- How to obtain information on the presence of asbestos before beginning work on a building
- What to do in the event of discovering or disturbing materials that are suspected to contain asbestos, including appropriate emergency arrangements
- An overview of the legislation which deals with health and safety and asbestos in particular
